These are so cute! I love the idea of having each guest bring a board book to add to the Baby’s library. You could have a “Book Brunch” theme!

My friend Jordan http://www.jordanferney.blogspot.com always throws a great party. She sent out boxed invitations with lemonheads inside, the cutest things ever. She sells them in her etsy shop.

Been a long time since I was involved in a baby shower. Doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy all these things tho….*S*
Nov 6, 2007 at 2:34 pm5 Never That Easy
But I love the baby shower games … mostly. Either way, these are adorable!

These are so adorable. I’d love A New Baby’s Life!

Ooh - my sister is pregnant and any of these would be perfect for her! Fingers crossed!!!
Nov 6, 2007 at 3:33 pm9 Brit
I used a pregnancy calendar for my first little one and I’d love to have one for when I have my next baby. These are way cute! My favorite baby shower item that I’ve seen was a diaper cake. They are so fun and decorative.
Nov 6, 2007 at 3:33 pm10 susan
My favorite baby shower theme I’ve seen was just all pink, red and white - and not particularly “babyish” but just cute for a little girl.
Nov 6, 2007 at 3:34 pm11 Maritel
For my sister’s baby shower, in the invitation, I put an insert “To bring a pack of diapers to be entered in a special raffle!”. Needless to say, she ended up with a ton of diapers and didn’t have to buy any until her baby was 4 months old! I raffled off gift cards and truffles! The guests and my sister loved it!
Nov 6, 2007 at 3:40 pm12 Casey
At the last baby shower I was at we made scrapbook pages for a baby book for mom to be instead of the typical baby shower games. It was interactive and a very nice change from the typical cheesy games!
Nov 6, 2007 at 3:56 pm13 Johanna T.
My least favorite thing about all baby showers is anything that is purposely made to embarass those who came. I don’t get it. I still go, but loathe that part.
Nov 6, 2007 at 4:06 pm14 ailie
So cute! I love the pregnancy journal. Such a fun way to remember those months!
Nov 6, 2007 at 4:10 pm15 Tara
My good friend is expecting her first baby in March, and I couldn’t be more excited because it means I get to host the baby shower! I have already started sampling some delicious pink frosted cupcakes… wonderful! The best baby shower game I have seen was at my sisters shower. The hostess passed out decorated cue cards to each guest and had them record words of wisdom, and advice for the mom to be. She ended up getting some truly inspiring comments, and she still cherishes all those cue cards to this day. I will definitely be using this game at the shower! Can’t wait!
Nov 6, 2007 at 4:38 pm16 Mia
My least favorite game is guessing the name of the chocolate bar that is smeared all over a diaper!
Nov 6, 2007 at 4:42 pm17 Naomi
I am so not a girly girl, so I am rotten at showers. Almost worse at being showered! It’s so hard to be sweet and gracious and not mention stuff like mucous plugs…
Nov 6, 2007 at 4:49 pm18 kelly l.
The pregnant girl’s life is my favorite - so adorable!
Nov 6, 2007 at 4:51 pm19 gina
I actually like watching the mom open the presents because all the things are usually so adorable. I know some people are bothered by having to sit there and watch - but as long as there aren’t a ridiculous amount of gifts, I personally think it’s fun!

Nov 6, 2007 at 5:11 pm23 angelaandconnor at gmail.com
I would love to have one of these to mark Connor’s milestones in!!
My favorite game at my baby shower was “what baby food is that” where everyone had to taste babyfoods. It was hillarious as everyone expected the baby foods to taste awful and honestly most of them taste pretty good!
Nov 6, 2007 at 5:12 pm24 Megs
I HATE when people don’t RSVP for a shower. It is so hard for the host to know how to plan. Very cute calendars!
Nov 6, 2007 at 5:18 pm25 Andrea
I never win anything! The last baby shower I threw I had a basket of favors that were pea seed packets that had a note attached that said “These seeds are for you to plant your very own Sweet Pea!”
Nov 6, 2007 at 5:23 pm26 Rachel
I don’t like the shower game where you have to cut a string to guess the size of the pregnant belly. It takes a lot of time and can potentially be a bit embarassing.
Cute giveaway!
Nov 6, 2007 at 6:03 pm27 Paul
These are so great! I hope I win!
Nov 6, 2007 at 6:14 pmI’ve never really been to a fun baby shower! Next baby shower for me, I’m going to plan and create. I want it to be unique and fun–not boring with the lame baby shower games!

Oh these are great - how helpful! I absolutely need one!
I like the shower games! But i’m kind of competitive about them
Nov 6, 2007 at 6:34 pm29 artsyvixen
i know it kind of goes with the territory but my least favorite thing about baby showers is the talk of the birth process. no babies for me yet, so i hate to hear the terror stories. yikes!
love the calendars!
Nov 6, 2007 at 6:35 pmwhat great gifts!
30 Susanne
I love these calendar’s…a great way to remember those early yet crazy days! For those of us with no time to get it all in a scrapbook!
Nov 6, 2007 at 6:50 pm31 Anonymous
I think the most unique and touching thing I’ve been a part of at a baby shower was helping to make a “labor necklace” for the mom-to-be. Everyone brought a bead or two, specially chosen either to represent some aspect of the mom, or as a token of some sort of parenting advice, and the necklace was strung and given to the mom as a treasured keepsake. Thanks for the chance to win the drawing! (meg.wilson@gmail.com)
Nov 6, 2007 at 7:23 pm32 Jessica
i went to a shower and there was a basket of baby stuff on one of the tables. i guessed it was one of the gifts and kinda ignored it, trying not to be nosy. turns out it was a game! they whisked it away and told us to name as many things in it as we could. it was fun and i used it as a game at a shower i threw a few weeks later!
Nov 6, 2007 at 7:28 pm33 mhnice
what a fantastic giveaway!!
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:25 pm34 Teresa
these are so creative!
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:29 pm35 Sara
The baby shower game I hate is the one with melted candy bars in diapers and you have to determine which candy bar it is. Disgusting. But I love the calendars!
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:35 pm36 Becky
The best shower game I’ve seen takes a bit of advance preparation, but is lots of fun! Gather baby pictures of some or all of the guests, the guest of honor and maybe even other babies that most of the guests would know. Then put all the pictures together on a poster board and have guests guess who’s baby photo belongs to who. Fun, low key and a great way to get everybody in a baby mood!
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:35 pm37 Kristen
My sister just started trying! This would make a perfect gift
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:40 pm38 Becky
I so didn’t want to play stupid shower games at my baby shower, but I was outvoted by my mother.
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:40 pm39 Becca
I recently went to a combined shower for two close friends whose due dates were a couple weeks apart. One was having her second daughter, the other, her second son. So neither needed a lot of new clothes or equipment. Instead they called it a diaper shower and asked guests to bring diapers, wipes, etc. or pampering gifts for the mothers.
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:45 pm40 Stephenson Family
These look like great gifts. The most fun I have ever had at a baby shower was a relaxed one. There were about 6 people there. We tied a baby quilt for the new baby while talking then had some great pie and opened gifts. It was just a nice relaxed time to be with women and talk about mommy experiences.
Nov 6, 2007 at 8:59 pm41 Kena
I loved my baby shower–all the guests brought their favorite childhood book for my baby’s library. We got so many books and everyone talked about the memories they had…
Nov 6, 2007 at 9:01 pm42 kim
For my first daughter’s baby shower, my best friend assigned each guest a letter of the alphabet (for their gift, if possible). Then I got to pull alphabet blocks out of basket to see which one to open first/next! Even the cake was made up of square alphabet “blocks,” spelling out my little one’s name. I loved it!
And I’d love the New Baby book too - #2 deserves something that’s not a hand-me-down!
Nov 6, 2007 at 9:32 pm43 aBookworm
I loved my baby shower. What I hated was people trying to guess my baby’s sex by looking at my belly, touching it and talking over me as if I wasn’t even there. That was really unpleasant. What I liked was the presents! Lol, just kidding. I liked that people came out to wish me luck and show their support.

I’m sure someone has already mentioned the infamous “What Melted Candy Bar is in the Diaper?” game. It is so gross, and really it’s not that funny to either partake in the game or watch others eat the poo to figure it out. However, I was so honored when my girlfriends threw me a shower I would have played any game they wanted because they worked so hard to celebrate my baby coming to this world. Neat giveaway!
Nov 6, 2007 at 11:53 pm49 sylvia
love these!!
Nov 7, 2007 at 12:42 am50 kailani
I don’t really like playing all those shower games. They’re usually always the same ones.
Nov 7, 2007 at 1:07 am51 Kim
Hi. Thanks for the giveaway. My lease favorite shower game is where you taste baby food and guess what it is. Last time I played it I was 9 weeks pregnant (hadn’t yet spilled the beans) and had extreme morning sickiness. They even made the game more “fun” by putting all the food you wre supposed to taste into baby diapers.
Nov 7, 2007 at 5:02 am52 Brooke
I really liked my shower. It was the first one I had ever been to and it was informal and relaxed - like a birthday party for a baby who wasn’t born yet - more about the baby than me.
It was co-ed, which may be weird to some but made a lot of sense for me, and made up of many generations of people. The youngest kids there - 9 years old - were the gift openers and describers of the gifts.
Nov 7, 2007 at 6:42 am53 buericana
At a shower, people sent images ahead of time and the host printed them on onesies for the mom and baby.

Nov 7, 2007 at 6:47 am54 Cindy
I really love the diaper cakes. What a creative way to give diapers to the mom-to-be, instead of just a box of diapers.
Nov 7, 2007 at 6:47 am55 Nissa H.
These are supercute!
I love baby showers, but can’t think of anything I’ve seen that’s especially unusual/cool.. maybe I’ve had/been to the wrong ones! lol

I don’t think I’ve ever attended a baby shower. I’d think I’d be considered to be at baby shower age, but nothing yet. Although I do love giving wrybaby.com gifts to expectant parents!

perfect gift for my daughter’s teacher!
Nov 7, 2007 at 7:26 am60 Tracey
I find shower games annoying. I’ve found with throwing any shower that guests have a fabulous time with just food & socializing. Skip the games & spend more time planning the food and atmosphere and you’re sure to have a great shower.
Nov 7, 2007 at 7:37 am61 SoireeLaura
Ooh - I know a pregnant momma who would love one of these!
Nov 7, 2007 at 7:41 am62 Grace
this is such a creative and inventive idea. i love it!!!
Nov 7, 2007 at 7:44 am63 suburban prep
At a baby shower I attended once there was the usual gifts for the baby and then there were some gifts that pampered the mother to be. Everyone usually seems to concentrate only on the child (which is right) but the mother needs to know that she is important as well.

I would love to give this to my sister for her first pregnancy!
Nov 7, 2007 at 9:33 am70 Mar from CA
These are sooo cute!!!
The best gift given at a baby shower that I’ve attended has been by far a 14X17 print of the babies first “picture” (ultrasound) and it was given by a GUY!!! Everyone loved it…..
Nov 7, 2007 at 9:34 am71 Erin
I threw my sister a baby shower and with the invites sent blank onesies with a little note attached to decorate it however they wish, with a little message or something more ornate and bring it to the shower. It was a blast watching my sister open each one and my nephew wears them all! I would love to get one of these calendars for her!
Nov 7, 2007 at 10:04 am72 Amy
I went to a baby shower where all the guests created “blank” scrapbook pages for a book so all the new mom had to do was paste in photos. It helped her get a jumpstart on scrapbooking.

This would be great for my sister who is due in Feb with my niece! I really hate the whole measure the belly game….I refused to have that at my shower! I mean, really…Do we have to showcase the fact that I’m as big as an elephant! Thanks for the chance to win!

Personally, I think the coolest “things: to see at baby showers are Dads.
These co-ed showers have been the funnest (is that a word) showers I’ve been to and Dads give pretty good advice, too!
Nov 7, 2007 at 12:26 pm77 Nanette
I’ll always remember the presentation of a baby shower gift, which included a bunch of baby outfits (maybe half a dozen or so), pinned to a clothesline that was strategically placed in a nice basket. Then the mom-to-be pulled up the end of the clothesline to reveal the adorable ensembles.
Nov 7, 2007 at 12:29 pm78 *JEM*
I absolutely adore the New Mom’s Life and the New Baby’s Life gift packs as I have no less than seven friends expecting little ones in early 2008 - these will make perfect gifts!
Nov 7, 2007 at 12:56 pm79 The Brandes Family
I threw my sister in law a shower last year. We took her 4D ultrasound picture and put it up with a bunch of other random 4D ultrasound pics we found on the internet. We made it into a game where you had to figure out which one was her baby! Everyone thought it was lots of fun. We also put all the gifts in the bassinet. It made for pretty presentation.
Nov 7, 2007 at 12:58 pm80 Anne
My friends and I threw a baby shower that was so much fun and much more hip than usual (so often they are so predictable!). It had a Hollywood Baby theme since the mother-to-be loves celebrity gossip. When everyone arrived, we gave each guest a boa and star sunglasses and took papparazzi-style polaroid pics of them for a keepsake. Instead of a dreadful game - we had guests play a game where they had to match the celebrity baby with his or her famous parents. The prize for who got the most answers right? Why, a celebrity gossip magazine, ofcourse. It was a blast!
Nov 7, 2007 at 1:29 pm81 jbubolz-miller
I love the new baby’s life;). At one baby shower I attended, guests were asked to contribute some new mother advice ahead of time on a sheet that was sent with the invite. Then the sheets were put in a book. IT was a sweet gift for the mom to be;)
Nov 7, 2007 at 1:47 pm82 linda_warner@juno.com
I co-threw a shower for a single soon-to-be-Mom who insisted she hated shower games. Well, we proved her wrong. She and her group of friends loved StarTrek NG, and we found some StarTrek Next Gen trading cards with stills from the show. We passed out sheets of them and challenged people to come up with captions or quotes for each picture. Prizes went to those that made the guest of honor laugh the most. We all had a blast, and she admitted that showers could be fun after all.
Nov 7, 2007 at 2:22 pm83 Stephanie
I prefer simple baby showers. My least favorite baby showers are ones that are too long or that have too many games (especially embarrassing ones).
Nov 7, 2007 at 2:56 pm84 Laura
Ok the guess the melted chocolate bars in a diaper is gross. I am not sure who thought that is a good idea.
Nov 7, 2007 at 2:58 pm85 The Saunders Family
we played present bingo at my shower…it made opening gifts into a game!
Nov 7, 2007 at 3:05 pm86 Opening Pandora
My fav Baby shower was a very classy “tea” - no stupid/embarassing games. There were a few fun games - but no measuring the belly, or gross diaper tricks.
Nov 7, 2007 at 3:06 pm87 Cass
my favorite thing I saw at a baby shower was my friend’s husband who was just as excited about every single present as she was!
Nov 7, 2007 at 3:57 pm88 sarahbeth
I try to always give animal things….or things that will make noise! So far, I’m still fun to the kids, and tolerated by the parents…
Nov 7, 2007 at 4:26 pm89 Adrienne
yeah…have to go with the baby food tasting game. Bleech.
Nov 7, 2007 at 5:23 pm90 kgilligan
I like the plastic babies in ice cubes game. Each person gets one in their drink and whoever’s ‘water” break first and baby is born wins a prize.
Nov 7, 2007 at 6:05 pm91 Chelsea
gripe: mini plastic baby bottles with bubble solution inside. what do i do with that..?
Nov 7, 2007 at 7:07 pm92 Jill
I would love the Mommy life one.
Nov 7, 2007 at 7:17 pm93 Renae
I hate embarrassing games like measuring mom’s belly. Most of the time you feel like a cow anyway. It’s even more depressing when they guess WAY bigger than what you are! I’m not a big fan of the diaper/chocolate bar game or the baby food tasting/guessing. Thanks for the giveaway. All the books are adorable! I would be happy to win any of them.

I tend to be a little bit competitive so I like most of the games, but I always enjoy watching the new mom open her presents - it brings back lots of memories and I get to see all kinds of new things since we are trying to have another little one soon!!

Nov 7, 2007 at 8:33 pm98 Andrea

Nov 7, 2007 at 9:18 pm99 dubya
extremely dislike the game where you’re suppose to guess the different kinds of mushed up candy bars in the diapers. gross!
Nov 7, 2007 at 10:33 pm100 Houses, Couches and Babies
I just had the most amazing baby shower that my girlfriends were nice enough to throw me. The theme was “baby bling,” which I thought was so cute and original. Eveything was so sparkly and fun for girls…it wasn’t just about babies! It especially worked well since I don’t know what I am having and they couldn’t go with a pink or blue theme.
Nov 7, 2007 at 11:24 pm101 Jasmine
Haven’t been to a baby shower yet, but probably will be soon in the next couple of years. Everyone around me right now (including myself) is getting married so I’m sure there will be, God willing, babies around soon enough.

These are too cute. In the invitation to one shower, it requested that everyone bring their favorite children’s book so that the baby would have a library. It was such a cute idea and it was fun to see all the different favorites that were brought.
Nov 8, 2007 at 6:12 am104 cindy h.
I agree with the comments about having all the guests bring a package of diapers for mom-to-be. We did that for my sister and they lasted her for months! Helped so much in the $ department with all the other things they had to buy for the baby!
Nov 8, 2007 at 8:20 am105 Elaine
My favorite thing about baby showers is the onsies. I love them, they are so cute!
Nov 8, 2007 at 8:37 am106 Shannon

Nov 8, 2007 at 11:45 am111 Andrea
I recently threw a shower for a neighbor and we played a great game. Using only the letters from the parent’s names, we had to come up with potential names for the new baby. Amazingly enough, we actually came up with the name they used- Soren!

Nov 8, 2007 at 12:41 pm113 Jinii
This is such an awesome idea. I hear so many people say they wish they would have tracked their pregnancies. What a great way to do it!
Nov 8, 2007 at 12:53 pm114 deemy
I could use this.
Nov 8, 2007 at 2:10 pm115 Emily
That looks really cool! My sister-in-law made a “diaper cake” for my shower and it was SO cute and I got a package of newborn diapers.
Nov 8, 2007 at 2:18 pm116 Jenny
Looks like a fun way to get me through the next 8 months or so…I think it’s always great to get something totally luxurious for the baby at a baby shower. One of the cutest gifts I’ve ever seen was the sweetest pair of pink Ugg boots for a little baby! Hilarious!
Nov 8, 2007 at 3:16 pm117 Mary Little
I love a bubble gum theme for a baby shower! Lots of floating colored “bubble gum balls”, and bright colors! Of course, an old fashioned bubble gum machine. Great for boys or girls. And I LOVE these calendars!
Nov 8, 2007 at 3:39 pm118 ReeSesPcS
These calendar’s look awesome! I would love any of them.
I have thrown a couple showers and love to do it. I do hate when people don’t RSVP though
You put so much work into it and would love to get responses if people are coming or even not coming. It’s good to know either way.
Nov 8, 2007 at 4:37 pm119 Joyful Weddings & Events
At every single one of my 5 baby showers, the guests had to guess how big my belly was. Kind of fun, but it’s definitely tiresome to have people guess how big around you are- even if there is a baby in there! My favorite though: my husband’s grandma guessed that my waist was 18 inches!! Maybe when I was 5!
Nov 8, 2007 at 5:24 pm120 Valerie
All these would make fabulous gifts, what a fun way to plan and organize!

I think I’ll just go with “..any comment” to submit for this competition… since I’ve never been to a baby shower… have been to the bar down the street though that all the guys hang out at until the shower’s over and their wives can drive them home… now that I could really comment on!

I like making cute onesie sugar cookies for shower favors. People go nuts for them. I like eating them too.

My least favorite baby shower game is the name-that-poo contest where they mash up different foods or candy bars and put them in diapers for everyone to guess what they are.

OK FREEBIES GALORE!
A great idea at a shower I attended was where everyone got to make an origami character and they were assembled into a mobile for the baby!

A funny game that I enjoyed at a shower (and I don’t care for many shower games) was having each person write a question about babies (ex. what should you do when your baby cries?) on a piece of paper then you turn it over to the other side and pass it 3 people to the left. Once you have received the paper that was passed to you, without looking on the other side, you write the answer to the question you wrote (on the original paper) on the new piece of paper. Then all the questions and answers get read, but of course, they are mixed up, which can end up being quite funny.

I love baby showers where you bring a toy or book for the baby. I still remember who gave me which toys but the clothes are long forgotten! (sadly)
